After consultation with a sleep specialist a sleep apnea appliance might be indicated. If appropriate a sleep apnea appliance worn while sleeping could improve the patients quality of sleep, quanity of sleep, restfulness of sleep, heart health and blood pressure. A sleep apnea appliance often times can reduce or eliminate snooring.
In situations where less invasive treatments are not possible it may be possible to alter the anatomy of the individual teeth to achieve a more favorable occlusion. Dr. Jacobson typically views this option as the least desirable where other options exist. This would require a multiple provider approach.
